Upul Tharanga scored his second Test century as he became the latest Sri Lankan batsman to make the most of Zimbabwe’s dropped catches in the first Test yesterday.
Kusal Perera cashed in on two dropped catches to score his maiden Test century, and day two saw Tharanga put down on 66 by Tino Mawoyo.
The left-hander scored an unbeaten 110 as Sri Lanka made a formidable 537.

Tharanga’s reprieve took the number of dropped catches in the innings to seven, while Sri Lanka also benefitted from three questionable decisions.
With the Decision Review System not in use, Zimbabwe were unable to request a review.

In reply, Zimbabwe lost opener Brian Chari for just five runs off Sri Lankan skipper Rangana Herath but Hamilton Masakadza and Tino Mawoyo settled nerves with a 67-run stand to finish the day 88-1.
