Projects underway: Energy crisis will be over soon, says minister

LAHORE: The government is making all-out efforts to end the energy crisis, said Punjab Minister for Human Rights and Minorities Khalil Tahir Sindhu.

He was addressing an event titled ‘Management Accountants Conference 2016’ organised by the Institute of Cost & Management Accountants of Pakistan (ICMAP) on Friday.

“Last year, the Chinese president visited Pakistan and signed various energy projects and the work has already been started on them,” he said.

Under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, coal, solar, wind and hydel power projects are being set up across the country.

An investment of $2.8 billion has been made in the 1,320 megawatt Sahiwal Coal Power Project while another coal power plant is being set up at Port Qasim, he pointed out.

The government is taking various steps to our financial and fiscal house in order, he said, adding there is a need for evolving a national roadmap to counter the country’s challenge.

He said all segments of society should play their role in the progress of
the country.
