MUZAFFARABAD: At least one person was killed and 32 schoolchildren were injured on Thursday when the bus they were travelling in plunged into a ravine in Kotli district of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).

According to the police, students of a private school were heading to Mangla Dam for a field trip.

Near Sarsahwa, Kotli, some 212 kilometres from Muzaffarabad, police said the driver lost the control of the bus and the vehicle skidded off the road and plunged into a ravine. The bus conductor was killed, while the children suffered minor injuries.

Police and locals rushed to the spot and shifted the injured schoolchildren to District Headquarters Hospital, Kotli for treatment.  Doctors discharged all the students after providing first aid.
