LAHORE:
The Lahore High Court has suspended its show-cause notices sent to three officials over their inability restrain protests or rallies on Mall Road. Taking suo motu action, a judge had issued notices to the Lahore district coordination officer, DIG (operations) and the chief traffic officer against the violation of the high court’s order. The officers had challenged notices through an appeal. On Wednesday, a government law officer contended the suo motu notice taken by the judge was not in public interest. An LHC division bench, headed by the chief justice, suspended operation of the show-cause notices issued to the officials and adjourned the hearing for a week. Justice Ibadur Rehman Lodhi had taken suo motu action last week after he and some other judges of the high court failed to reach the court in time on last week morning due to a protest on Mall Road.
