ISLAMABAD:
Pakistan on Monday launched a strong protest with the United Nations Military Observer Group in India and Pakistan after two civilians were killed in unproved firing by the Indian forces late Sunday night.
“Due to Indian unprovoked firing at the working boundary last night a civilian, Muhammad Latif, of Janglora village and an infant Haniya embraced Shahadat while seven civilians were injured,” the ISPR said in a statement.
The military’s media wing said Pakistan Rangers Punjab in Harpal, Pukhlian and Charwah sectors on the working boundary gave a befitting response to the unprovoked firing. It further said that intermittent exchange of firing continued throughout the night.
The injured civilians were moved to Combined Military Hospital, Sialkot.
Foreign Office spokesperson Nafees Zakaria condemned the unproved firing by the Indian forces and said that heating up of the working boundary and LoC by India was endangering peace.
