Protecting minorities: Security cameras to be installed at worship places
Sum of Rs400m has been earmarked to complete the project while Rs7m will be utilised for maintenance of the project
Earlier this year, the security cameras crashed after the UPS they ran on fused, as nearby lawyers offices were piggybacking on the system to run their fans during power outages.

The special assistant to chief minister for information, science and technology, Dr Sikandar Shoro, has approved installation of more than 5,000 security surveillance cameras at worship places of minorities across the province.
While presiding over a high-level meeting, Shoro directed the information, science and technology secretary Pervaiz Ahmed Seehar that the project must be completed as soon as possible, according to a statement issued on Sunday.
He said that a sum of Rs400 million has been earmarked to complete the project while Rs7 million will be utilised for maintenance of the project.
Shoro added that for the purpose, a monitoring room will be established that will be managed by trained staff round the clock.
He further issued directions that in the first phase, a survey for security in temples, churches, gurdwaras and other sacred places of minorities will be conducted and, on the basis of the survey report, four to 16 security cameras will be installed around the place of worship in order to get maximum protection and effective monitoring.
