PESHAWAR: The Jamaat-e-Islami amir claims that the international establishment and world powers have hijacked Pakistan’s political leadership and media.

“Puppets of America have driven Pakistan into the valley of debts while claiming they are resolving the problems of Pakistanis,” Sirajul Haq said while addressing a huge rally at JI’s two-day congregation in Nowshera on Saturday.

“Our leaders have proved they do not want Islamic Sharia despite the fact that the solution to all the problems of humanity lies in its implementation,” he said.

Siraj lamented that Pakistanis were divided along sectarian, linguistic and ethnic lines even 70 years after the country gained independence because they had forgotten the instructions of Islamic Sharia.

He said the family system in Pakistan had been badly disturbed by different ideologies like socialism, secularism, communism and dictatorship but the problems of humanity were still unresolved.

Highlighting problems of the Pakistani diaspora in Saudi Arabia, he said Pakistanis working in the oil-rich kingdom were facing severe problems and hundreds of them were in jail for minor crimes, but the Pakistani government had failed to address their issues.

The party’s central leaders, including General Secretary Liaqat Baloch as well as JI’s Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) Amir Mushtaq Ahmad Khan, Local Government Minister Inayatullah and other provincial leaders attended the rally. Hizbul Mujahideen’s Supreme Commander Syed Salahuddin was also present on the stage.

Over 1,300 policemen were deployed to provide security at the event while Hizb’s volunteers were also deployed on various points in the venue to avoid any untoward situation.

The JI’s two-day annual congregation, which is usually held every year in different cities of the county, is considered one of the important events for workers.  The congregation was attended by thousands of party activists, including women from across the province.

Proper arrangements were made for the participants with designated place for women. Senior woman representatives of the party, including Samia Raheela Qazi, MNA Ayesha Syed, Inayat Begum and K-P Assembly Deputy Speaker Meher Taj Roghani, were keynote speakers on the occasion.
