Mazar-e-Quaid turns pink in solidarity with breast cancer patients
The initiative was taken to draw attention to early detection of breast cancer

The Mazar-e-Quaid was illuminated pink on Saturday in solidarity with the breast cancer patients and survivors.
The illumination is a part of Pink Ribbon's annual Breast Cancer Awareness drive, said the chief executive of the Pink Ribbon Campaign Omer Aftab.
The Pink Ribbon Campaign in collaboration with National History and Literary Heritage Division and administration of Mazar-e-Quaid, illuminated the mausoleum, a statement said.
The initiative was taken to draw attention to early detection of breast cancer and in solidarity with patients and survivors of the diseases in Pakistan.

Aftab said that Pink Ribbon Campaign celebrates the month of October as `PINKtober' to urge people to become a beacon of hope for women and families who have lost their loved ones because of breat cancer.
“This is a historic moment in our struggle of fighting against breast cancer in Pakistan. Through the illumination of this iconic structure, our message of saving lives from breast cancer will reach out to millions of Pakistanis across the country,” he said.
Aftab pointed out that breast cancer still has cultural sensitivities attached with it and that is why there is a need to raise this issue in main stream media.
He added that Pink Ribbon is setting up Pakistan's first breast cancer hospital where state-of-the-art treatment facilities will be provided to all poor patients free of cost.
