Traders expecting €1m export orders
Fruits gain attention at German exhibition.
KARACHI:
Pakistani exporters are expecting export orders of up to €1 million after oranges, mangoes and potatoes attracted public attention at the Fruits Logistics exhibition held in Germany between February 9 and 11.
All Pakistan Fruits and Vegetables Exporters, Importers and Merchants Association former chairman Waheed Ahmed said that buyers from Russia, Ukraine and Holland expressed interest in buying potatoes and oranges.
Pakistani traders expressed hope that mangoes and oranges will receive a favourable response in the European market. Pakistan’s Ambassador in Germany Shahid Kamal stressed the need of paying more attention to innovative ways of pricing and packaging in order to increase shelf life of fruits and vegetables while exporting them. He also emphasised the significance of research and development in the sector.
