Higher education: Wapda to establish power and energy university

Water and Power Development Authority (Wapda) Chairperson Muzammil Hussain has proposed to established a power and energy related Wapda University in Islamabad. According to a press release issued, Hussain discussed the proposal during a meeting with State Minister Muhammad Balighur Rehman. Higher Education Commission (HEC) Chairperson Dr Mukhtar, CEO Iesco Dr Rana Jabbar and other government officials were also present at the meeting.

According to Hussain, there is a dire need of well qualified and well trained individuals for WAPDA as market has been unable to produce such qualified people for this important institute specifically. “It is high time that we establish an institute which would be focused only on power, energy and energy related issues,” Hussain remarked.
