Day one: Younus' ton helps Pakistan score 304-4 against Windies

Veteran batsman scored his 33rd Test century as hosts finish opening day of second Test in strong position

ABU DHABI: Pakistan, who won the toss and opted to bat first, were 304-4 at stumps on the opening day of the second Test against West Indies in Abu Dhabi on Friday.

Captain Misbahul Haq was batting on 90 as centurion Younus Khan departed on what proved to be the final delivery of the day.

Younus, who was making his comeback after missing out in the first day-night Test as he was recovering from dengue fever, scored his 33rd Test ton, and got out after scoring 127 off 205 balls, where he struck 10 boundaries and one massive six.

Openers Azhar Ali (nought) and Sami Aslam (six) were dismissed in the first session while Asad Shafiq fell for 68 after lunch.



Pakistan, who lead the three-match series 1-0 after winning the first Test in Dubai by 56 runs, brought in Younus, Zulfiqar Babar and Rahat Ali as three changes to the first Test line-up. They left out Wahab Riaz, Mohammad Amir (both rested) and Babar Azam.

West Indies were forced to leave out unfit wicket-keeper batsman Shane Dowrich, bringing in Shai Hope.



The third and final Test starts in Sharjah from October 30.
