LAHORE:
Several students were injured in a scuffle between the activists of Islami Jamiat-e-Talaba (IJT) and a group of students at Punjab University’s Institute of Communication Studies (ICS) on Thursday. A minor scuffle between two students of the sociology department and the ICS took place two days ago that led to the brawl between several students on Thursday. A large number of IJT activists had come to the building in search of the students when the PU security staff locked the ICS doors and barred the activists from entering the premises. The IJT workers broke the glass doors and attacked the students, who were trying to stop them. The activists dispersed after police was called and PU Vice-Chancellor Dr Mujahid Kamran reached ICS. The VC later ordered strict action against the IJT activists. The IJT spokesman alleged ICS students had first attacked the IJT activists outside the PU, injuring several of them who were under treatment at Jinnah hospital.
