ISLAMABAD: The effective price of cellular mobile calls has witnessed a substantial reduction in Pakistan during 2015, going down to Rs0.60 per minute compared to Rs1.68 per minute five years ago, said a latest report issued by the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) on Wednesday.

The PTA report said all CMOs are currently involved in aggressive marketing campaigns and promotions and therefore, the segment needs a thorough review to assure its financial viability and health.

According to the report, in Pakistan, all CMOs are offering two to five standard prepaid packages with a pulse duration of one second, 20 seconds, 30 seconds and 60 seconds. The operators are offering unlimited on-net calls as well as free calls to off-net mobile and fixed-line networks.

In case of post-paid, CMOs offer four to seven post-paid packages with pulse duration of 30 seconds and 60 seconds, respectively.
