LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Wednesday issued notices to the accused and the prosecution department seeking comments on a petition for the transfer of the Samia Shahid murder case from Jhelum to Lahore. The next hearing has been fixed on November 4.

Samia – a British-Pakistani beautician from Bradford – was raped and murdered in the name of honour allegedly in July. Her husband Mukhtar Kazim has filed a petition, requesting the court to transfer the trial to Lahore.

Appearing before the court, the suspects’ counsel asked the judges not to transfer the trial to Lahore. “If the case is transferred to Lahore, the complainant will attack and kill our witnesses,” he said.
