Improving skills: Workshop to train faculty on innovative teaching methods

FAISALABAD:
A four-day workshop on hybrid course design and development meant for equipping the teaching staff with modern teaching skills kicked off in Faisalabad on Tuesday.

The workshop is being held in collaboration with US, Pakistan Center of Advanced Studies in Agriculture and Food Security and University of Agriculture Faisalabad (UAF).

Prof James R Carey and Prof Thomas L Rost from the University of California, USA will impart training to 50 teaching staff of UAF.

While highlighting the salient features of the training, Prof James R Carey said the workshop will focus on lecture material, demonstrations and exercises in which participants will gain hands-on technical experience.  He added after completion of the workshop, participants will be required to produce a 60-second video   on the topic of their choice which will be shown to the participants and other faculty members.




He maintained innovative teaching methods with technological support had become essential to motivate students towards studies.

On the occasion, Prof Thomas L Rost said the specific aim of holding the workshop was to increase the participants’ knowledge regarding use of learning management system and best practices in information design, presentation concepts and video production methods.

Meanwhile, Dr Nancy from University of California and Dr Ghulam Murtaza also spoke on the occasion.
