An Anti-Terrorism Court sentenced three accused to life imprisonment in a kidnapping for ransom case on Tuesday. The judgment was announced by ATC Judge Wajahat Hussain Khan.
According to prosecution, accused Ajmal, Umar, Anwar, Mehboob and Yasir abducted 10-year-old Yasir and Koora, 12, and demanded ransom from their family. However, police raided their hideout and recovered the children. While announcing the verdict, the ATC judge handed down life term to Ajmal, Umar and Anwar. However, the court acquitted Mehboob and Yasir over lack of evidence.
In another case, the same court awarded seven years imprisonment to two accused for possessing illegal weapons. Prosecution told the court that accused Umar and Anwar were arrested by police during snap checking, while illegal arms and ammunition were also seized from them.
After hearing the arguments, ATC Judge Wajahat Hussain Khan awarded seven years jail term to both the accused.
Meanwhile, the court acquitted a man in acid throwing case. Jameela Bibi filed a complaint at City police station, Rajanpur against her husband Shaukat in which she stated that her husband tried to murder her by throwing acid. However, after proceedings of the case, the court acquitted Shaukat due to lack of substantial evidence.
