SIALKOT: Provincial Communication & Works secretary Azam Salman has taken notice of the slow pace of construction work of several development projects including roads in Sialkot and Gujranwala regions. He has directed the officials concerned to pace up the construction of these projects.

He said this on Thursday while presiding over a meeting in Sialkot.

The meeting was attended by Gujranwala commissioner Saeed Wahla, Sialkot DCO Mujahid Sher Dil and Gujranwala DCO Nabeel Ahmed Awan. The Federal Works Organisation (FWO) officials, carrying out the construction, were also present on the occasion.

He expressed concern over the slow pace of construction work.

He said this was causing inconvenience to the people and that he would not tolerate it any further.

Also, he gave a two-week deadline to the Gujranwala Electric Power Company (Gepco) to removal of electricity poles that were delaying the construction work on several roads. He directed them to remove the poles by the first week of March.

The C&W secretary further asked Sialkot DCO to ensure that all other encroachments in way of these roads were removed within a week.
