ISLAMABAD:
The students of Model School for Girls F-7/4 were left bewildered as they witnessed simple and interesting scientific experiments held at their school as part of an effort to instil an urge to seek scientific learning. The Khwarizmi Science Society team, visited Islamabad Model School for Girls F-7/4 as part of its National Science Movement. It was organised in collaboration with Alif Ailaan. The experiments included how liquefied nitrogen could alter the properties of tennis balls, rendering them brittle and how gas balloons responded to low temperature. Students performed visually appealing experiments such as reacting sodium with water or the effervescent reaction of hydrogen peroxide with iodide, propelling the reaction into a rising geyser. Students were also able to hear the ‘shape of sound’ using vibrating plates and resonance.

Dr Khalil A. Qureshi briefed students and science teachers about how scientific commitment determines the progress of a country.
