KARACHI:
A comprehensive plan has been chalked out to launch a drive against corrupt officials in the education and literacy department, claimed Education Minister Jam Mehtab Hussain Dahar.

He was presiding over a meeting in his office on Monday. Dahar said that those officers who have brought a bad name to the department will be taken to task, adding that the government will not compromise over the standard of education, attendance of teachers and any kind of corruption in the department.

"The leadership of Pakistan Peoples Party is committed to bring big changes in the education department," he said. The minister added that the people will see positive results soon because Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah is taking keen interest in improve education in Sindh and an emergency has been declared in the department.


According to Dahar, supply of furniture has been started to those schools from where the education department received complaints. The minister also directed the authorities to maintain transparency in supplying furniture. He warned that if he finds any misappropriation in the supply of furniture, he will take action against corrupt officials no matter how influential they may be.

Dahar also directed the heads of the schools to stand up against corruption and perform their duties honestly. He urged the officers to improve their relevant departments, pay regular visits to the schools and enhance education standards in the province.
