BISE results: Only 60% pass first-year exams

LAHORE:
The Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) Lahore announced the results for Intermediate Part-I Annual Examinations 2016 on Monday with an overall passing percentage of 59.12%.

According to the board, 135,069 candidates took the exams out of which 77,780 were declared successful. BISE Lahore Chairman Prof Chaudhry Muhammad Ismail announced the results.

In the pre-medical group, 18,829 candidates were declared successful out of the total 25,958 candidates who sat the exams. The pass percentage for the pre-medical group was 73.95%.

In the pre-engineering group, 19,585 candidates took the exam out of which 13,968 candidates were declared successful with a pass percentage of 72.78%.

In the general science group, 19,653 candidates took the papers and 10,452 of them were declared successful with a pass percentage of 54.27%.


In the commerce group, 9,982 candidates remained successful out of the total 18,906 who took the exams. The passing percentage was 54.3%.

In the arts group, a total of 50,961 candidates sat the exams out of which 24,549 candidates were declared successful with a pass percentage of 49.83%.

While announcing the results, Prof Ismail directed the BISE officials to make sure regular and private students received their result cards on time. BISE Controller Nasir Jameel and Secretary Rehana Ilyas were also present on the occasion.

The BISE chairman also instructed the officials to cooperate with students coming to the board office seeking information about their results cards or papers. He also directed them to make sure the teachers, who performed duties during the examinations, were paid on time.
