Salman Khan files INR100 crore defamation suit against TV channel

Salman Khan who was previously accused of poaching animals during the shooting of his 1999 film Hum Saath Saath Hain has filed a defamation suit against a TV news channel, Times of India reports.
The INR100 crore-defamation suit was filed at Bombay High Court. Salman has claimed that a sting operation conducted by the TV channel in the animal poaching case was malicious and defamatory.

In the sting operation, the channel claimed witnesses had seen the superstar shoot endangered chinkaras in Jodhpur. The witnesses had later turned hostile, saying the footage had been doctored.
Khan had been accused of killing a blackbuck and a chinkara in two separate incidents. One of the animals was killed at Bhawad on the outskirts of Jodhpur on September 26, 1998. The other was shot at Ghoda Farms on September 28, 1998 .
Salman was acquitted of the charges earlier in July. Justice SJ Kathawalla will hear the case on November 18.
