Towards progress: AUST to have new academic block in 18 months
Varsity to open new depts, lecture theatres, classrooms, hostels, employees colony
ABBOTTABAD:
Abbottabad University of Science & Technology (AUST), will have a new academic block within the next 18 months. This move will allow the administration to launch new departments at the varsity, AUST Vice Chancellor Dr Iftikhar Ahmed said on Friday.
Addressing the academia, students and administration staff on the groundbreaking ceremony of new block, the VC said after getting a no-objection certificate (NOC) from Higher Education Commission (HEC) and transfer of funds, development process has been initiated at the university.
Ahmed, said with new additions, the varsity will have space for new departments in the future. “The new block will cover 46,224 square feet, housing 24 classrooms, 13 laboratories, three lecture theatres, three conference rooms and 36 offices. He said projects of new administration block, employees colony, girls’ and boys’ hostels were also in the pipeline and construction work will commence during the current fiscal year.
On the occasion, Planning & Development Deputy Director, Kamran Khan and Works Director Engineer Asim Khan briefed the audience regarding the design of the academic block.
