The Lahore High Court has dismissed a petition seeking conversion of the Punjab Governor House into an educational institution.
On Friday, Justice Abid Aziz Sheikh dismissed the petition after a deputy attorney general contended the status of the Governor House could not be changed, and asked the court to dismiss the petition for being not maintainable. Barrister Javed Iqbal Jafree had filed the petition and contended the governor’s office was just symbolic and huge premises had been allocated for the purpose of his residence.
Maintaining such a building for the governor in a country where children cannot get education was shameful, he claimed.
