Transport: Orange Line project may face delays
LDA seized the company’s performance guarantee and transferred Rs900 million into their account
LAHORE:
Lahore Metro’s Orange Line is likely to face delays as the construction company, whose contract was cancelled over alleged negligence, has decided to appeal against the decision in the high court. The company has already acquired the services of a law firm for its defence, according to the Express Investigation Cell. The firm has gathered all documents, pictures and videos to prove it was not negligent, claiming the project was initiated on political gains and was technically impossible to complete. The company believes the authorities gave an incomplete design of the project and the notice to the firm was issued to cover its own shortcoming. Earlier, on the request of the company, a civil court had appointed a commissioner to examine the work. Despite this, the LDA seized the company’s performance guarantee and transferred Rs900 million into their account. A court has also issued a stay order against construction work near 11 historical places.
