New gas connections: Ministry seeks to remove suspension \

The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Resources has moved a summary seeking the removal of sanctions imposed by the previous government in 2011 on new industrial and commercial gas connections, official sources said.
“The summary was moved after the gas supply situation improved with the import of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) and discovery of new gas reservoirs,” they said.
With the import of LNG and its injection, they said, gas companies were ensuring to provide uninterrupted supplies to its consumers.
They said the government had signed an LNG import agreement with Qatar in 2015, following which cargoes carrying the commodity were regularly arriving in Pakistan.
Currently, gas supply to domestic, commercial, industrial, power, fertiliser and CNG sectors has remained uninterrupted, the sources added.
