The 33-year-old Bashir, who is Pakistan’s most prominent MMA fighter, had been on a two-fight losing streak and needed a win to bring his career back on track.

Mahmoud did appear the more aggressive of the two fighters after the fight began, connecting with several hard kicks, although his aggression didn’t faze Bashir one bit.

The Synergy founder stuck to his game plan and quickly brought down Mahmoud before luring him into a textbook heel hook that left the Egyptian with no choice but to tap out.
