Ground for the first ever school of dentistry in the twin cities was broken on Thursday at Pakistan Institute of Medical Science (PIMS).
The school will offer students graduate and postgraduate degrees in dentistry. Additionally, the school’s allied hospital is expected to treat at least 150,000 patients annually.

The facility is expected to be completed in July 2018 at a total cost of Rs1.25 billion.
There was a dire need of a dental college in the twin cities as there are no colleges for the field from Lahore to Peshawar, said PIMS Dentistry Department Chairperson and Project Coordinator Dr Ansar Masood.
Federal Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal unveiled the plaque of the school at Quaid-e-Azam Block.

He said that the projects and initiatives of the federal government, which consist of at least 30 hospitals, prove that the government invests in more than just roads and infrastructure.
