My style is dreamy, whimsical and ethereal. I stick to classics but this year we are incorporating some quirky and glitzy elements into our designs. Metallic has been quite the rage, so we will find interesting ways to integrate such elements. Flowers are my strength and passion, and this season the ‘freshly gathered from the garden’ look is quite hot. I will incorporate that with unusual vines and foliage that cascade. Mood lighting is also very important as it makes or breaks an event. The look I’m going for this season is luxurious with some quirks here and there.

To design something exceptional, you must focus on the small details. Our mission is to create a luxurious experience for our clients, without compromising on the quality. We source high-end vendors, fresh flowers, and combine these elements in the classiest and most elegant way possible. This is how QYT weddings deliver on their promise of a grand event each time. We love producing beautiful weddings, and put in a lot of time, thought, creativity and effort into every detail.

For the upcoming season, we are focusing on contemporary lines and geometries. Our focus has been and will continue to be largely installation based with attention to lighting techniques. We are staying away from pastels and concentrating on jewel tones and bold contrasting colours. Modern prints will make a comeback for both flooring patterns and wall panels. It is safe to say that dessert bars have finally been put to rest.

We are developing a fresh, subtle and charming theme this season. Everything is customised to create an authentic experience. Burlap runners, an assortment of French vintage postcard inspired cushions, vintage books, baskets, beautiful linens and customised ottomans. Some of my favourite pieces are the old French cupboards we made filled with gorgeous curiosities, bell jars, urns, clocks and baskets of roses. All in all it is definitely not your run of the mill photocopy wedding. Instead, a breath of fresh air!

Trends in Karachi have always tilted towards the classic look. Recently, however, the trend is more rustic. The use of twigs, lanterns, fairy lights and candles is on the rise with draping in white and jute. Also, a play on gold, metallic, silver-grey and taupe is huge. We play with lighting to add romance and drama, which is a critical element. Superstitions towards colours are passé with most of our clients therefore we have added black to our palette as well. This adds grandeur to the ambience when used with gold and silver.

Classical designs whether they are eastern or western never go out of fashion. Out-of-the-box weddings are few as people rarely take risks — but when they do, it is the talk of the town. Paper crafts, glitter, foam in large and dramatic shapes make a big impact. Origami shapes using metal, cement and plastic as architecture can be used for wedding backdrops. These are the future trends, but one can never move away from flowers. They will always remain the core of any wedding as they uplift the soul of an event!

The event should totally transform the venue. Now trending are dramatic treatments of the ceiling, like a stunning hanging garden with flowers. To make an event memorable it’s important to incorporate striking elements. We are using eye-catching features such as water bodies, flamingos made with delicate rose petals, Roman statues and magical unicorns with floral wings. Photo booths are another hot trend at mehndis these days. Daytime weddings are my personal favourite and we are super excited about the day events coming up this December.

Quirky entrances, old doors, flower arches with props and hip colours can be seen at dholaks, mayuns and mehndis. White, pastel and amber tones for the baraat and valima are huge. Another trend is to personalise the wedding by using massive wood blocks with the couple’s initials or using their framed photographs as installations. This adds a little romance and brings emotions of nostalgia. Plus, it looks gorgeous! Though, flowers are the heart of every wedding, this coming wedding season we see the use of non-florals as the hatke element — more gota, bells, ribbons, latkan, daflis, and lanterns instead.
