LAHORE:
The Punjab Educational Endowment Fund (PPEF) is likely to rise to Rs20 billion in the current year while the number of students getting scholarships from the fund will increase to 200,000. This was shared by Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif while talking to lawmakers from various districts on Tuesday. “Education is the only way to tackle the challenges of poverty, unemployment and ignorance,” he said. “The Punjab government has evolved a solid strategy for the uplift of education sector by setting up the PPEF for the promotion of education.” Shehbaz said educational scholarships worth billions of rupees have been distributed among 150,000 students studying at prestigious local and international educational institutions. “This fund is playing an important role in fulfilling educational needs of the underprivileged but talented students,” he added.
