LAHORE:
Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif has ordered a thorough investigation of the Shahdara cylinder blast and sought a report within 48 hours, saying those responsible for the fatal mishap will be held accountable. On Sunday, the CM visited Yousaf Park to condole with the bereaved families of the victims of the cylinder blast and gave cheques of Rs1 million each to the heirs of those who died in the blast. He also offered Fateha for the departed souls and expressed heartfelt sympathies with them. Last week’s massive cylinder blast in an LPG shop has so far claimed the life of 11 people. Six more victims said to be in critical condition are under treatment at Mayo Hospital. Shehbaz said the Punjab government would bear the expenses of the children’s education for the deceased and provide free medical treatment to the bereaved families. He assured the families that an inquiry would be held into the mishap and those responsible would not be spared.
