‘Drunken’ cops allegedly shoot guard

While taking notice of the incident, the police suspended and arrested the cops responsible for the incident

KARACHI: Three policemen said to be under the influence of alcohol allegedly shot and injured a guard in Kharadar late Saturday night after he tried to stop them from consuming liquor.

While taking notice of the incident, the police suspended and arrested the cops responsible for the incident.

The policemen opened fire at the security guard, identified as Mohib Hussain, when he tried to stop them and then fled from the scene, according to officials.

The injured guard was taken to Civil hospital for treatment where he told police that the drunken policemen allegedly shot him when he attempted to stop them from consuming liquor.

Later on, the police reached the site and after inquiring about the incident registered a case against the suspected policemen, who have been identified as Danish, Azmat and Sami.

Another suspect, who has yet to be identified, was also involved in the incident and a case has also been registered against him.

These suspected policemen were said to be sons of police officers and residents of Kharadar police lines. City SSP Faizullah Korejo said that all the three cops have been nominated in the FIR and further investigation is under way.
