Around 60 regular and 15 additional canals will be constructed in Dera Ghazi Khan at a cost of Rs80 million under the Annual Development Programme 2016-17 canal project. The project for brick-lined canals will be completed with the cooperation of the World Bank.

Agriculture and Water Management Director-General Malik Muhammad Akram said this on Wednesday while addressing officials of the water management department at the Circuit House.

He said irrigation system would be setup for over 400 acres of land and orchards and 58 laser leveller units would be distributed among land owners. The field officers and supervisors of the water management department will ensure the completion of work on scheduled time, he added.


He assured that measures have been adopted to reward farmers under the Kisan Package.
