Turns out that the reason behind this is none other than the badshah of Bollywood Shah Rukh Khan, Miss Malini reports. A popular award ceremony dating back to 1996 didn’t go down too well with Aamir when Shah Rukh bagged the best actor award for his film Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge there.
Aamir had been nominated in the same category for his noted performance in Ram Gopal Verma's iconic film Rangeela.
Clarifying his stance Aamir said, “Fact is that I have no objections to film awards per se. I just feel that if I don’t value a particular film award, then I won’t attend it either.”
Shah Rukh Khan hated Kajol when they first met
The actor shared that he believed that all award functions were biased with the exception of National Film Awards. “Apart from the national award, I don’t see any other award ceremony that I should give value to. My personal experience about these award ceremonies is that I don’t trust them.”
Aamir Khan's transformation for Dangal proves he's a perfectionist
It was after the aforementioned incident that he decided to boycott award ceremonies.“I have no faith in them so I would prefer to stay away,” Aamir said.
