SHABQADAR:
Twenty suspected ‘terrorists’ were arrested in a ‘combing operation’ conducted by security forces in Shabqadar tehsil on Saturday.

A source in the Saro Killay police station said the operation was launched on an intelligence report about the presence of terrorists in Michni, Angor Kor, Bela Mohmand and adjacent areas of Saro Killay in Shabqadar tehsil of Charsadda district.

They were shifted to an undisclosed location for interrogation where some of them were released after initial interrogation, the source said.

He said the combing operation has been going on for quite some time now and added that members of sleeper cells of terrorist organisations are being targeted to pre-empt any militant activity in the area.

Meanwhile, three alleged women facilitators of militants, who were arrested on September 20 from Saro Killay, have been shifted to the Peshawar Central Jail by the political administration of Khyber tribal area, a police source told The Express tribune.

Also, Charsadda police have registered FIRs against officials of Nadra, the district election commissioner office, banks, bus stands, and private and government schools in Charsadda for neglecting security guidelines.

Charsadda city police station official Imran Mohmand and an Umerzai police station official said that police have informed officials of these institutions about the poor security arrangements at these sites, and added that action has been taken when they ignored police advice.
