American band One Republic is back with a brand new album, which, according to its lead singer Ryan Tedder, will offer many different kinds of songs. The pop-rockers – who performed at the Apple Music Festival in London recently – will release Oh My My on October 7, marking their fourth official studio outing, reported Reuters.

“I think keeping it new and pushing the envelope is what inspires us, as well as trying not to repeat ourselves. There are a lot of things that involved us having to venture off into new territory,” said Tedder, adding that the new album includes “up-tempo, French house kind of records” and two ballads.

One Republic, known for crowd-pleasing hits such as Counting Stars and Love Runs Out, is amongst the 10 headline acts that are taking the stage in the British capital during the festival, which runs till September 30. The line-up also includes other music greats such as Britney Spears and Robbie Williams.

The band gave an energetic performance at Roundhouse venue recently, with crowds stomping their feet and singing along. Asked whether the group felt pressure to produce popular anthems, Tedder replied, “Hit records are a requirement … they’re like a passport to each album.”

“We keep that at the back of our minds while we are writing songs. We are thinking, ‘Oh, this one feels like it might be bigger than the others,’ but I don’t sit down and go like, ‘Right, let’s do a hit’,” he added. “That’s not something that comes out of my mouth.”
