ISLAMABAD:
The Chief Justice of Pakistan, Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, administered the oath of office to Justices Sarmad Jalal Osmany and Amir Hani Muslim as judges of the Supreme Court of Pakistan

The ceremony was attended by judges of the Supreme Court, the Chief Justice of the Islamabad High Court, the Attorney General for Pakistan, the Federal Law Secretary, the president of the Supreme Court Bar Association, representatives of the Bars, prominent lawyers, officers of the Law & Justice Commission of Pakistan, and other officers of the court.

Dr. Faqir Hussain, the registrar of the Supreme Court of Pakistan conducted the proceedings of the oath taking ceremony.

With the official elevation of status of Justices Osmany and Hani Muslim, the Supreme Court regains its strength of 17 judges, and is expected to take up two high-profile cases – the National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO) and the 18th Amendment – by the end of this month.

These cases were in process when the larger bench became depleted following the superannuation of some judges last year.
