Auto theft gang: Wanted car thief arrested

ISLAMABAD:
A suspected car thief, who police believes has stolen over 20 vehicles from the twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi, was apprehended on Thursday.
The suspect, identified as Amir Anwar Butt, was caught by the Anti-Car Lifting Cell (ACLC) of the Islamabad police.
According to details, Koral police had booked Butt for stealing a Corolla from Ghauri Town, Phase 5. Shoukat Ali, a co-accused in the theft of the car, is currently in jail on judicial remand. Islamabad police say they had charge-sheeted Butt in 20 separate cases of car theft.
The police believe Butt is a member of larger gang of car thieves which is operating in the twin cities. They are currently questioning him to determine the identities and locations of other members of the gang. SSP-Operations Sajid Kiani has announced commendation certificates along with cash reward for the police team that nabbed the suspect.
