Peace day event: ‘Govt taking steps to curb terror’

Peace is vital for establishing a prosperous and progressive society and the Punjab government has taken important decisions to curb terrorist acts and crime incidents.
Parliamentarian Tabish Alwari made these remarks while speaking as a chief guest at a seminar jointly organised by Regional Information Office, Bahawalpur and Bahawalpur Press Club to mark the International Peace Day.
The event was held at the press club auditorium on Thursday.
Alwari appreciated the efforts of Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif for establishing state-of-the-art institutions, including scientific forensic lab, counter-terrorism department and a separate anti-terrorism force. He said such departments played a vital role in curbing criminal activities.
Information Director Rana Ajaz Mahmood said it was important to keep a vigilant eye on anti-state elements and urged the opinion makers to promote the culture of dialogue which was essential for maintaining peace.
