Campaign against wheeling: Police impounds 800 motorcycles during Eid
“One-wheeling is not only against the law but it also endangers lives of commuters,” says SSP
ISLAMABAD:
Islamabad traffic police on Tuesday said that during the Eidul Azha holidays they had penalised over 3,000 people for violating the ban on one-wheeling.
According to figures disclosed by Traffic Police SSP Matloob Ahmed, police had impounded around 800 motorcycles as part of a crackdown on one-wheeling.
SSP Ahmed further said that the campaign was conducted following directives from Islamabad Inspector General Police Tariq Masood Yasin.
“One-wheeling is not only against the law but it also endangers lives of commuters,” Yasin said. “We will continue our drive against one-wheeling.”
As part of the campaign, he said the police had deployed special squads on various roads to apprehend violators.
He further said that they were also taking strict action against mechanics which help motorcyclists alter their vehicles so that they can be used for one-wheeling. SSP Ahmed on this occasion urged parents to discourage their children from one-wheeling.
