LAHORE: Efforts are afoot to renovate Badshahi Mosque which is situated in the heart of Lahore, The Express Tribune learnt on Monday. The city district government has constituted a special committee under the leadership of Adviser to Chief Minister on Health Khawaja Salman Rafique.

The committee will seek to evaluate damage made to the historic mosque. Members of the committee, including Lahore DCO Captain (retd) Muhammad Usman and Walled City of Lahore Authority (WCLA) Chairperson Kamran Lashari, visited Badshahi Mosque to assess the infrastructure on the site.

They also examined broken tiles of walls and floors and water seepage in walls and roofs.

The committee has identified areas where attention is required and decided to acquire consultancy services for estimation of works and finances.
