Precautions: Congo virus patient dies in Abbottabad

At least one patient carrying Congo virus died in Ayub Teaching Hospital on Sunday.
Hospital officials told The Express Tribune the patient has been diagnosed with Congo virus by National Institute of Health (NIH) in Islamabad.
Naveed, a resident of Nathiagali, was 25-year-old and the owner of a buffalo farm in Nathiagali.
On third day of Eidul Azha, Naveed was hospitalised in ATH with high-grade fever, body and stomach ache, vomiting and a nose bleed. According to doctors at the emergency department, initial medical examination revealed that he was carrying symptoms of Congo virus. As a result, he was isolated from the other patients.
His blood samples were sent to NIH for further analysis. The test received by ATH on Saturday confirmed that he was suffering from Congo virus. However, Naveed died during the early hours of Sunday morning and was buried in his ancestral graveyard. The officials confirmed a team from World Health Organization also visited ATH and collected blood samples.
