Electricity: Power to be generated from garbage
A project has been prepared to generate electricity from garbage and solid waste.
KARACHI:
A project has been prepared to generate electricity from garbage and solid waste that will also help control pollution, an official said regarding a meeting of a delegation with Sindh Chief Secretary Ghulam Ali Pasha.
The delegation was led by ambassador-at-large Khalid Ahmed and included some Chinese experts. It was pointed out that 96 megawatts of electricity could be generated from the disposal of garbage and other solid waste.
The chief secretary told City District Government, Karachi (CDGK) officials that an effective strategy should be chalked out for this kind of power generation so that after devising rules and regulations, the project can begin. The project would be pursued by the officials of the Shanghai Environmental Protection Company, the Government of Sindh and the CDGK, according to an official statement from the chief secretary’s office on Sunday.
