Antoine Griezmann puts Manchester United, Chelsea on red alert
Atletico Madrid forward decides to leave agent and represent himself
Atletico Madrid forward Antoine Griezmann, who was previously contracted to Spanish agency Grupo Santos, has decided to represent himself after parting with his agent.
Speaking to the French sports newspaper L'Equipe, the 25-year-old said, “From now I’m going to operate without an agent.”
He added: “But I will always have the advice of my father and also my mentor, Eric Olhats.”
Griezmann was discovered by Olhats, a scout for La Liga club Real Sociedad, at the age of 13, while he was playing in Montpellier, France. Subsequently, Olhats made him an offer to join the La Liga side in San Sebastian, Spain.
Griezmann leads Atletico Liga lift-off
The French forward, who was the Golden Boot winner in Euro 2016, has a €100 million release clause, and the recent change in the player’s circumstances will encourage potential Premier League suitors.
Earlier this month, it was reported that Chelsea have been tracking Griezmann’s progress for the past two years with a view of making a future move.
Manchester United are also understood to be keen on triggering the 25-year-old’s release clause.

Coincidently, it was also reported in Spanish media earlier this week that Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone is set to leave the club at the end of the season.
Griezmann previously admitted that he would reconsider his future at Vicente Calderón if Simeone left the club.
