Heinous crime: Man, woman hanged ‘for honour’

KHANEWAL: Khanewal police have arrested three people for hanging a woman and a man, suspected of being illicit lovers on Thursday.

The suspects are the 35-year-old woman’s father, brother and husband.

A police spokesman told The Tribune that the suspects had allegedly hanged 30-year-old Ali*, a resident of Chak-56 Haiderabad and Amina after accusing them of having an affair.

He said on Thursday, Ali and Amina had met at her house where they were attacked by her father Riaz, her husband Javed and her brother Shahzad.

The spokesman said residents of the area had informed police about the incident.

He said a police team sent to the scene had arrested the men. He said an FIR had been registered at Tulamba police station.
