Thin attendance at educational institutions as Eid break ends

The Punjab University, too, extended the break as It will remain closed until September 16

LAHORE: There was a low turnout at schools that opened following the Eid holidays on Thursday.

“Teachers’ attendance on Thursday was around 90 per cent. However, only about 25 per cent student showed up at my school,” said Liaquat Ali, a teacher at a public school. Most private schools, colleges and universities did not open on Thursday; the government had announced holidays until Wednesday. All Pakistan Private Schools’ Federation (APPSF) president Kashif Mirza had announced in a statement that member schools would remain closed on September 15. The statement read, “All Pakistan Private Schools’ Federation announces that member schools all over Pakistan will remain closed until September 15 for Eidul Azha… and will reopen on September 16.”



The Punjab University, too, extended the break. It will remain closed until September 16. The university administration announced that the additional holidays (on September 15 and 16) would be adjusted against other holidays as required. Other public universities across the province opened on Thursday but witnessed low attendance. A spokesperson for the University of Engineering and Technology (UET) told The Express Tribune that only a small number of students had showed up on Thursday.
