Going higher: SECP registers 613 companies in August

KARACHI:
The Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) registered 613 new companies during August, an increase of 51% compared to the same month last year.

The growing trend in company incorporation is the direct result of numerous facilitation measures taken by the SECP, stated a press release.

Around 90% companies were registered as private limited companies, while around 6% were registered as single-member companies. Close to 4% of the companies were registered as public unlisted, non-profit associations, trade organisations and foreign companies.

The trading sector took the lead with the incorporation of 88 companies, followed by services with 77, information technology with 61 and construction with 59.


Moreover, 7 foreign companies were also registered by the Company Registration Office (CRO) in Islamabad and Lahore. Foreign investment has been reported in 42 new companies.

During the month, the highest number of companies, ie 204, were registered at the CRO Islamabad.
