The Logical End : PHC disposes petition on royalties
By a resident of Chitral over an enquiry by National Accountability Bureau (NAB) into forest royalties
PESHAWAR:
A division bench of Peshawar High Court disposed of a petition filed by a resident of Chitral over an enquiry by National Accountability Bureau (NAB) into forest royalties. According to NAB, it wound up the enquiry of around 745 petitioners and asked the bench to dispose of the matter. The court accepted the plea. NAB launched an enquiry into royalty being given to the petitioners after a complaint was filed with the authority, claiming the money was being misappropriated. The petitioner’s counsel, Barrister Waqar, said the complaint was filed by someone who had no share in the royalty. He added the DC would not pay the royalty unless the enquiry continued. A NAB prosecutor appeared before the court and said the bureau closed the investigation after the real owners made no claim of foul play. The bench, after hearing the arguments, disposed of the petition.
