“All Bollywood films don’t depict women in a good light but to counter that, enough good films are also being made in Bollywood,” said Chadha. “There are many sensible people in the film industry who will not allow violence against women, children or trafficking.”
Chadha observed how most people let their daughters live with crimes committed against them, rather than coming out in the open and discussing them. “They don’t want their daughters to lose face in society. The Masaan actor also shared an incident that had affected her deeply. “I was shooting for Main Aur Charles when I met a guy in a juvenile rehabilitation centre. He was a teenager and had been held for raping his 11-year-old neighbour,” she shared. “And he spoke so casually about his crime!
