PESHAWAR: The National Accountability Bureau accepted the voluntary return offer of a serving senior police officer who was arrested for misusing authority and engaging in corruption. The case was worth millions of rupees.

SP Sajid Khan agreed to return the Ghazikot Township bungalow worth Rs15m which was offered to him as a bribe. The accused was taken to Peshawar and handed over to NAB by a judge of the accountability court, Muhammad Asim Imam, for a 10-day physical remand on Saturday, last week. Muhammad Sajid Khan was tasked with an enquiry into corruption allegations and wrongdoing in the allotment of plots in Ghazikot Township in Mansehra.

During the enquiry, he allegedly misused his authority and closed the file. According to officials, he closed the deal after striking an agreement with officials of Mansehra Development Authority who allotted him a fully furnished bungalow worth Rs15 million in Ghazikot Township.
