PESHAWAR:
The provincial chief of Jamaat-e-Islami, Mushtaq Ahmad Khan, has welcomed Bank of Khyber’s (BoK) managing director’s regrets but said this will not affect the party’s demands.

“Neither was JI taken into confidence regarding this reconciliation by Chief Minister Pervez Khattak and the bank’s managing director BoK MD nor will it affect JI’s demands, including removal of the managing director MD from his office,” Mushtaq Ahmad remarked while talking to the media at Al Markaz-e-Islami in the city on Sunday.

However, he said, the managing director’s regrets proved the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa finance minister’s innocence.

Mushtaq Ahmad added the bank’s managing director’s regrets, through a press advertisement published on September 11, confirmed that JI was not involved in corruption. He maintained his party was firm on its demands regarding implementation of Cabinet’s special committee reports and Ehtesab Commission’s proceeding against the managing director.

The JI leader said the managing director, however, did not mention the reinstatement of those employees who were sacked over the charges of leaking reports to the media. He urged the managing director MD to reinstate all the sacked employees as early as possible.

Through a press advertisement published on April 16, the BoK’s managing director accused Minister for Finance Muzafar Said of interfering in affairs of the bank and forcing the management to do undue favour for fresh appointments and other matters. Later, the finance minister issued a defamation notice to him, whereas the chief minister constituted a special committee with Minister for Social Welfare Sikandar Hayat Sherpao as its chairperson.
